The fact that only one member of the Hellenic Parliament acknowledged our letter and filed an official question to the competent authorities, is a disgrace for the members of the Hellenic Parliament.  Normally we should have been inundated by actions of the Parliament towards the Government to raise in an effective way the issue of the German debt to Greece which today amounts to more than one trillion euros. We would like to express our gratitude to Mr.Vassilis Villiardos, the only member  of Hellenic Parliament who acted upon the proposals included in our letter.

“German Crimes and Germany’s Debts to Greece,” INTERNATIONALLY distinguished professor of medicine, Helen Savaki exposes the devastating reality of the German invasion and occupation of Greece during World War II. Drawing on meticulous research, she documents the plunder of the Greek economy, the theft of cultural treasures, and the immense loss of life—including the 300,000 civilians who died of famine in the first year alone.
Savaki not only recounts these atrocities but also confronts Germany’s unpaid obligations to Greece—war reparations, the forced occupation loan, victim compensation, and the return of stolen artifacts. She asks why these debts remain unsettled and why Greek governments have not pursued them. Powerful and direct, the book exposes a dark chapter of history and underscores the enduring moral demand for justice and reparations.
